Join our summer cyberviolence workshops
This summer Project Respect will be hosting evening gatherings for you to hang out and chat and take action about the ways that cyberviolence impacts you!
As we’ve been doing our consent workshops in schools, we hear a lot about what’s happening in your lives. Over and over, participants have told us that hurtful and often violent things happen over texting and social media, and that it would so great for us to be able to support you in working with those struggles.
So, this summer, Project Respect wants to bring all of you who are interested in this stuff together to work on just that. We’re inviting youth ages 12-21 together to help deepen everyone’s understandings of what’s going on, develop social justice actions, build programming, and learn facilitation skills. We’ll do this through discussions, projects, art, theatre, and whatever else you have energy for. All while you’re meeting other people your age who are interested in this stuff, too.
Take the next step in becoming a leader in social justice initiatives, developing social action skills, and making the change you want to see in your communities. Oh yeah, and it’s all free.
So. The details.
Who? Youth 12-21 of all genders. Be in touch if there are ways that we can make this space more welcoming and/or accessible for you! I’m just getting together accessibility information from the venue, but be in touch if you have any specific questions.
When? Wednesdays from 5:30-7:45 pm; July 4 & 18, Aug 1, 8 & 15
Where? The Quadra Village Community Centre’s Youth Centre (QVCC), 901 Kings Rd. The youth centre is accessed through the front of the building, but to the left of the main entrance. It is near the 6 bus route, and about a ten minute walk from buses that stop at Douglas near Bay.
There will be free food at every session (let us know dietary needs), and free bus tickets.
Be in touch with Kim at if you have any questions, if you’re interested in coming (so we can get a sense of numbers), or just show up!
Check out the event on facebook – please share! Bring your friends, siblings, and anyone else you’d like who is between the ages of 12 and 21!
This project is supported by the Victoria Foundation and Telus.
