Wild Rose Hip Tea Blends and Jam | Facilitated Discussion
This workshop will focus on the benefits, uses and harvest of wild rose hips (nootka rose) hips. We will start the workshop with some wild rose 101 knowledge and then work as groups to make different wild rose tea blends and rose hip jam.
The second half of the workshop, we will host a facilitated discussion to make connections between decolonizing through land based learning and sexual violence prevention. In our last consent workshop, we asked ourselves how we are connected to our land and water, and many youth expressed they would like to know more about this connection and how it relates to violence (sexual violence) prevention. This will be our opportunity to explore these connections and have youth define what these connections might mean.
We will start our workshop at 5:00PM on November 7th at the cultural building (behind the LAU WEL NEW Tribal School). Food and refreshments will be provided. If any youth require transportation, we will be able to make travel arrangements.
This workshop is open to all indigenous youth 14+ and depending on our total number of participants, we may open this to any youth in the Greater Victoria community (indigenous or non-indigenous). Questions can be posted here, or by phone/text to Beangka at 250-415-0201.
