Crisis support:

Youthspace.ca is a crisis support text and chat line for anyone under 30, 6pm-midnight PST, 365 days a year. Text: 778-783-0177

Vancouver Island Crisis Line is a 24 hour crisis line. Phone: 1-888-494-3888

Victoria Sexual Assault Centre offers support for anyone ages 13 and up who has experienced sexual assault. Phone: 250-383-3232

Kids Help Phone offers both crisis and non-crisis support to youth across Canada, 24/7. Text: 686868 Phone: 1-800-668-6868

Healthcare and community support:

Island Sexual Health offers gender affirming care and sexual health care including STI tests, safer sex supplies, pap tests, preventative and emergency birth control. Phone: 250-592-3479

Foundry Victoria Youth Clinic offers free healthcare services and counseling to youth ages 12-24, including birth control, STI testing and peer support programs. Phone: 250-383-3552

Victoria Native Friendship Centre provides resources, support and drop-in programs for Indigenous youth 12-24. Phone: 250-384-3211

The Native Youth Sexual Health Network is an organization by and for Indigenous youth that organizes resources and projects on mental and sexual health, rights and justice throughout the United States and Canada.

Support for online harassment:

NeedHelpNow.ca provides help coping with cyberbullying and removing intimate pictures and videos from the internet.

Take Back The Tech is an international organization empowering women, two-spirit, and non-binary folks to take action against sexualized cyber violence.

Webwise.ca is created by young women for support dealing with cyberbullying, slut shaming and online safety.

Education:

Love is Respect has lots of information on healthy relationships and dating violence.

Scarleteen is full of education for youth on sexuality, gender and relationships.

Sex and U is a collection of resources on sexual and reproductive health and gender.

Sexetc is a website by youth for youth, with youth-written resources on sexual and reproductive health, relationships and gender.

For educators:

Safer, Smarter Kids – Curriculum for children from pre-K to 5th grade and family safety toolkit on sexualized abuse prevention. One of the only organizations focusing on children from this age range. Some of the content is free, including videos and posters, but payment is required to get full access to the entire curriculum.

The Social Justice Toolbox – A free resource hub of pre-made activities for a range of social justice issues. The activities can be divided by different themes, length of time, trust level, knowledge level, and if the activities will be completed with small or large groups. 

Teaching Sexual Health – Lesson plans, activities, and quizzes provided by both English and French for grades 4 to 12. Lessons include topics on relationships, consent, and personal values and decision making. 

Ending Rape Culture – A free pdf for teaching about the impact of a culture that supports sexualized violence, how to challenge it, and creating alternatives.
